Welcome to Philippine Legal Guide! Hopefully a Philippine legal resource site you'll find useful.
This site is maintained by Atty. Stacy Lyn Y. Liong, CPA ,who enjoys food photography which she posts on instagram, food videography which she posts on her tiktok and blogging to enhance her creativity. (After all, there is more to life than law right?) Her other blogs which you can also visit are:
www.crumpylicious.com - a lifestyle and events blog covering the Manila scene
www.tsinoyfoodies.com - my foodie adventures
www.traveltripsters.com - my travel memoirs
You can also follow her on goodreads https://www.goodreads.com/tsinoyfoodies if you're interested in behavioral economics, leadership, legal writing, marketing, management, psychology and stock market trading.
This blog is the closest to her heart as it was not intended to be shared in public.
Basically, the idea of establishing this site is a way to make a digital back up copy of her personal notes.
There are many reasons why she wanted to create a digital back up copy:
1. She was more of typist than a writer. When allowed by my professors, she'd type notes on my laptop or android phone.
2. She wanted to go paperless and be eco-friendly. As much as possible she tries to save paper. It's also a space saver as she now don't have piles of paper all over my room.
About the Content
I have placed here Jurisprudence, Digests, Codal Provisions and Personal Notes. Aside from having a digital copy, I try as much as possible to make them as organized and easily accessible by a simple search on the search box.
For Jurisprudence, everything is labeled by (1) GR Number (2) Case name.
For Digests which I personally made, you can find that it is in a non-conventional format. Over the years, I have struggled in complying with the fundamental law school format of long paragraphs. I also tried the summary version of making tables (i.e. case name, case details, crime charged/nature of case, RTC decision, CA decision and SC decision). But, they don't work for me.
So what you can find here are Digests with applicable lessons, doctrines, applicable laws, facts (in bullet form including RTC decision and CA decision), issue, held and ratio decidendi (in bullet form). The pro in this format is you can grasp or be refreshed with everything within a minute. But, sorry this will never be sufficient for your case digest assignments (trust me I have always failed in that).
I also try as much as possible to keep the Case Digest List updated so you can just search for the case title and year. And, each Digest is linked to the Jurisprudence, should you prefer a deeper reading, just click the hyperlink on the GR number on top.
Update 08/21/2022: Apologies if this site is no longer being updated due to the following reasons:
1) The author has devoted her legal passion in pursuit of unraveling the complexities of Philippine Taxation;
2) The author has shifted to cloud database (cloud project management tools and cloud reference management tools) instead of blogs due to convenience and cost-efficiency in backup, recovery and indexing;
3) The author's entire leisure time has been allotted to learning and advocacy beyond the legal field (i.e. food photography as an advocacy to support small local business, fitness and spirituality towards a sustainable and balanced well-being and personal finance and investment).
However, this site will remain up and running as long as the author can still sustain its maintenance costs.
